Concerning love of country, I think it's important to bear in mind that there were no nations in the Middle Ages as we understand that concept. Loyalties were not focused on nations. Sometimes they were focused on kings, but often more on local lords, on monastic orders, and on Christendom as a whole.

I think the world is well past peak nationalism now, and loyalties are becoming diffuse again, both larger and more universal, and smaller and more local. Nationalism is a waning and reactionary force. It will take a long time to dissipate, but ultimately I think we're headed for a more neomedieval world.

This commentary shows us few, 1) there are a very small number that would find themselves sitting across the “Round Table” to form a bond, a plan, and see it thru to preserve what’s good. 2) that same small number are probably, prepared logistically, physically, mentally, and spiritually fortified to stand against any dark or demonic force.

May Yahweh pick us up when we fall in the fog of war and place the sword back in our hands.
